Spring and summer in southern California are genuinely beautiful. The temperatures can get hot, sure, but the almost endless sun makes up for it. Even when night falls, it’s rarely that chilly. It can seem like summer goes on forever. Of course, even in the hottest months, it does rain occasionally. That can lead to water damage in your home or place of business. It doesn’t have to rain for water damage to strike, of course. It could just be that something in your home overflows or leaks. Here at USA Restoration, we’ve been providing water damage restoration in Los Angeles for many years. Now, we can put that experience to work for you.
Water Damage Restoration in Los Angeles Inspection
We take great pride in being available 24 / 7 / 365 to deal with any water damage issues. If you’ve been reading these blogs for any length of time, then you know that USA Restoration is always available to help with any water damage restoration. We don’t use “always” lightly, we mean it. You should always be able to get help with any water problems you might have. There’s a simple reason that we’re always available: so that we can get to work on your water damage restoration faster. See, if water damage is ignored or overlooked, it can get worse. The worse it gets, the greater the damage it can do.
In these blogs, we sometimes mention how there are three different kinds of water: clean, gray and black. Obviously, clean is the least dangerous, gray should be avoided, and black is genuinely toxic. However, what’s not always apparent to people is that the classifications of water are not static. They don’t just stay one way. Even clean water, left to its own devices, sitting in a pool in your basement will eventually become gray water. By that same token, if gray water isn’t dealt with quickly, then the toxins, bacteria and more that made it grey will soon conspire to make it black. As you can probably imagine, black water is to be avoided at all costs.
So, since we’re available at all times, day or night, we can show up at your place and begin to deal with the water quickly. It’s important to note that we show up as quickly as possible at any time and immediately begin our inspection. As soon as this inspection ends, we give you a detailed estimate that includes what everything will cost. We know that when you’re dealing with water damage in your home, you’ve been through enough surprises. So, there are no hidden fees or anything like that in our estimate. You’re given the entire price.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that you may not end up having to pay for all of this yourself, or even part of it. At USA Restoration, we’ve been performing these kinds of jobs for many years. In that time, we’ve developed high-level skills with water damage restoration tools, methods and the like. One other skill we’ve developed is the ability to help folks with their insurance company. We can work with you on what to say and when so that hopefully as much of the restoration process as possible will be covered.
Detailed, Thorough Inspection
It’s important to note that we perform the most detailed inspection we can of your location as quickly as possible. We know that when it comes to water damage restoration, there is literally no time to waste. By that same token, we also know that a comprehensive investigation of what happened is critical to the success of your restoration process. This is another area where our professionals come in so handy: we perform a complete investigation in a very brief period of time.
The first order of business is to identify where the water is coming from and stop it. This is easy when it comes to water from the outside (flooding, that kind of thing) but not necessarily when it comes from pipes, sinks and the like. No matter where it’s coming from, we stop it cold. After all, we can’t begin a restoration process if water continues to pour in. Then, our USA Restoration pros quickly check for contaminated water.
Determining the contamination level of the water goes a long way towards figuring out exactly how we’re going to approach it. Hopefully, your flooding is only clean water, the kind from your sink or pipe, water that’s had all manner of foulness filtered out. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Sometimes, the water is grey, which means that it has some level of contamination. If the water is black, completely contaminated, that changes our plans further. Always remember (and we stress this quite a bit) if water comes from the outside, like from an overflowing river or creek, then it’s automatically black water. You don’t have to ask questions, you just have to get away from it.
Scope of the Damage
Before we begin your restoration process, we also need to know how far the reach of the water damage is. You might think this step unnecessary. After all, it’s water damage: we can see how far it’s gone. If water is pouring into your basement or roaring down from your overflowing toilet, it may not feel like much has to be done to survey the extent of the water damage. However, unfortunately, the true extent of water damage is hidden from the naked eye.
Water can seep into cracks, nooks, and crannies. It can cause all kinds of problems that you can’t see. We make sure to use the most advanced infrared technology so that we can find exactly where all of the water damage is. That way, we can treat it more comprehensively. If you use lesser water damage restoration companies or try to do this yourself, then all kinds of damage behind the drywall or underneath the slab could be missed. Then, even once the water damage restoration company is done, everything could get worse and worse. By doing a full investigation with the best tools, we can get through all of the different problems.
Every job we perform is different. One person’s water damage is different from the last, just like every home in Los Angeles is different. A step we always include, however, is making sure that we remove the water. No matter what it takes, we get the water out of there pronto. That could mean that we have to use vacuums and pumps far beyond what the layperson can get. Getting rid of the excess water keeps the damage from getting worse.
We know that many of our clients are concerned about their commercial properties. We also understand that you may have a custodial staff that you like, respect and trust. However, this kind of work is far beyond their purview. They aren’t equipped for this kind of task. Indeed, you’ll notice the extent of our job is not referred to as “water damage cleanup,” but rather “water damage restoration.”
The above is basically just the beginning of the water damage restoration process. It starts with the investigation, moves to the removal of excess water, and then we dry, dehumidify, sanitize and clean until your property is returned to its pre-loss state. Not only does this get the water out and away from your property, but it also keeps mold from growing there as well. It’s never good when water damage strikes. However, we can make sure that it isn’t catastrophic, and that you can recover from water damage. Should water damage cause you any problems, day or night at any time, just give our pros at USA Restoration a call at (877) 959-8066. We’ll be ready to help!
